Two honored as ‘Person of the Year’
The President’s Commission for the Status of Women at California University of Pennsylvania has selected two seniors to receive the fall 2017 Person of the Year awards for their work on behalf of women at Cal U. and in the community.
Dre Ceja, of Camp Hill, was honored as Undergraduate Student of the Year. Ceja is a sociology major with a minor in women’s studies. Lacy McKenzie, of Carmichaels, was honored as Nontraditional Undergraduate Student of the Year. She is an accounting major with a minor in psychology. Both are expected to graduate this month.
Ceja and McKenzie accepted their awards at a luncheon Tuesday at the Kara Alumni House on Cal U’s main campus.
The Person of the Year awards recognize outstanding career and personal achievements, support of women and a dedication to the campus and community.
The commission, established at Cal U in 1991, advocates for an equitable environment in which all women can flourish. It serves as a forum where diverse concerns of women on campus can be heard and supports the development of scholarship inclusive of women.
