Bowl for Kids’ Sake, the largest fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, will officially begin Tuesday at a kick-off event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the James Street Speakeasy, 422 Foreland St., Pittsburgh.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake is an annual two-monthlong friendly competition among more than 100 local individual and corporate teams. The groups raise money for the agency through social media and traditional creative fundraising. In past years, teams have raised nearly $200,000 to support positive mentoring.

The competition ends with a series of bowling events in March.

Also on Tuesday, BBBS will recognize agency volunteer leaders with its Celebrate Coalitions Awards, which are presented to individuals and groups who have offered exemplary service to Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the BIG Community Partners of the Year.
