Four Washington County residents were among the 28 college students who received $3,500 scholarships from the Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship Foundation last week at the 101st Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.

They are:

• Lena Bioni of Claysville;

• Nicholas Gardner of Washington;

• Scott Gardner of Washington;

• Diana Sarnickle of McMurray.

“Receiving the award is a recognition of what you all have done, what you aspire to be, and what the industry aspires to be,” said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. “The future is bright for all of you.”

Since its inception in 1993, the Farm Show Foundation has awarded more than $1.4 million scholarships to 500 junior Farm Show exhibitors. In addition, Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Delaware Valley College will award an additional $2,000 to their students who receive the award.
