School registration
Allison Park Elementary School in the Chartiers-Houston School District will hold kindergarten and first-grade registration for the 2017-18 school year from 9 to 11 a.m. and 12:45 to 2:30 p.m. March 27-29. Parents are asked to call the school at 724-745-4700, ext. 300 or ext. 301, to set up an appointment. A registration packet will be mailed out. Parents and their children are asked to bring the completed information with them to their appointment as well as two forms of proof of residency, such as a driver’s license and a utility bill, the child’s birth certificate, Social Security number and immunization records. Kindergarten children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. First-graders must be 6 years old on or before Aug. 31. Children who attend kindergarten at Allison Park do not need to register for first grade.
Bentworth School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2017-18 school year Feb. 21-23. Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Children registering for first grade must be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1. Children who attend kindergarten at Bentworth do not need to register for first grade. Parents must provide the following documents at the time of registration: birth certificate, immunization records and two documents to prove residency. Copies are acceptable. Residency documentation can include driver’s license, auto registration, utility bills, tax statements, voter registration or evidence of receiving checks from wages, public assistance or Social Security. Parents must call the elementary school to schedule an appointment by Feb. 15. Registration, testing and health information will take about 30 minutes. Church of the Covenant, 267 E. Beau St., Washington, will hold preschool registration Feb. 1 for church members and returning families. Call the church at 724-222-0190 for a registration packet. Other community members can register their children from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 2 in the preschool area.
Trinity Area School District will hold kindergarten and first-grade registration from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m. as follows:
• Trinity North – March 6;
• Trinity West – March 7;
• Trinity East – March 8;
• Trinity South – March 9.
Children do not need to attend registration. Children must be 5 years old before Sept. 1 to enter kindergarten; children must be 6 years old before Sept. 1 to enter first grade. Parents need to bring the child’s original birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency listed in the registration packet. To obtain forms before registration, visit www.trinitypride.org or visit the school. Students who are enrolled in a Trinity kindergarten program do not have to register for first grade. If there is a school cancellation the day of registration, registration will be held the same day of the following week.
