The Greene County Chamber of Commerce, formerly the Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce, has added a new event to its calendar.

The Women in Business Breakfast was created to encourage aspiring and successful professional women and entrepreneurs in various fields to meet, learn and inspire each other. The event will be held Aug. 4 in the Benedum Dining Hall on the Waynesburg University campus.

The event will begin with registration and breakfast from 8 to 8:30 a.m., followed by keynote speaker Laura Ellsworth, a partner-in-charge of Global Community Service Initiatives of Jones Day Law Firm in Pittsburgh.

“Laura absolutely mesmerized the Rotarians when she spoke at one of our recent meetings,” said Barb Wise, executive director of Greene County United Way and secretary of the Waynesburg Rotary Club. “She told dynamic stories about her path to success and shared humorous anecdotes along the way.

“Her goal is to empower, inspire and improve the lives of women by providing the tools, knowledge and network to help women expand their leadership potential.”

Following Ellsworth’s presentation, those who attend will participate in a networking activity designed to help them form new professional connections in a fun way. Attendees are encouraged to bring business cards.

The event is being sponsored by Waynesburg University, with support from First Federal Savings Loan and Lippencott Alpacas. Cost is $20 per person, and reservations re required by emailing info@greenechamber.org or calling 724-627-5926. Sponsorship packages are available at several levels and are open to area businesses and organizations.
