Brownsville library adjusts schedule

Brownsville Free Public Library, 100 Seneca St., will close at 1:30 p.m. Saturday because of an event downtown and be closed June 24 through July 4 for repairs to the lower level.

Volunteers are needed June 24, July 1 and possibly July 3 to help carry boxed materials and miscellaneous objects from the basement to the main floor before work begins and after it’s completed.

Story time will continue to be held at the library at 11 a.m. Wednesdays.

The Makedo Creative Cardboard Construction program for 7- to 14-year-olds will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday and June 23 in the upper level of Brownsville Sons & Daughters of Italy, Frank Ricco Lodge 731, 16 Race St. The program returns to the library July 7-28.

The Read Around the World program will be held from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in the SOI Lodge. It will return to the library July 11 through Aug. 8.

The Build a Better World program with activities for children up to 14 years old runs through Aug. 11. It will be held in the library and suspended the week of June 26 because of the renovations. The Dino Detective program, sponsored by the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the library.

Registration is required, but limited. Call the library at 724-785-7272 to see if space is available.
