Carmichaels Area High School will graduate 80 students at commencement ceremonies at 7:15 p.m. June 2 at the high school gymnasium. The class valedictorians are Morgan Jayson Voithofer and Kaleb James Wilson. The class salutatorian is Brady Owen Watters.

Voithofer is the daughter of Jason and Heather Voithofer.

She received the 2016 Outstanding Physics Student and Outstanding Spanish Student awards and she was the October Girl of the Month for the Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club. She was the 2016 Bituminous Coal Queen and the 2014 Miss Rain Day.

Voithofer was awarded a Duquesne University School of Pharmacy scholarship. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Yearbook Club, band, chorus, newspaper staff, drama club and was the captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. Voithofer will attend Duquesne University to major in pharmacy.

Wilson is the son of Michael and Kristi Wilson.

He is a Tri-County Academic League champion and was a second-place state winner for the DAR Good Citizen Award. He placed first in the Greene County Envirothon and took third place in the state Envirothon. Wilson was a member of the National Honor Society, Book Club, SADD, debate team, Chem Club, the Senior Standing Committee and the Quarterbacks for Life club. He received the St. Vincent College Scholarship.

Wilson will attend St. Vincent with a major in political science.

Watters is the son of Pete and Regina Polando. He was the secretary of the National Honor Society and he received the Westinghouse Science Honors Certificate Watters was a member of the ski and book clubs, the Senior Standing Committee, the Chem Club and the Academic League. He will attend West Virginia University and major in chemical engineering.

The class president, Ethan Michael Hennessey, will also speak at commencement.

The keynote speaker will be Gary Madich, a 1973 Carmichaels Area alumnus. Madich served as managing director and vice chairman of investment and asset management at J. P. Morgan until his retirement in January 2015.
