Library announces events for kids
The Eva K. Bowlby Public Library, Waynesburg, is recruiting 3rd-8th graders who want to compete in the 2018 Greene County Reading Competition on the Bowlby Team. Interested readers should meet at the library at 6 p.m. on Nov. 28. Details of next May’s competition will be reviewed, as well as the reading list required. Practice dates will be held in November and December.
In addition, kids, ages 6 through 12, are invited to join the Code Squad with PBS Kids ScratchJr. The program helps children learn core coding concepts as they create their own interactive stories and games using PBS characters. As participants snap together colorful programming blocks to make their favorite characters move, jump, dance and sing, they will learn to solve problems, design projects and express themselves creatively. The coding program will run 10 weeks in conjunction with the fall story class programming, which meets from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Dec. 7.
