In less than two weeks, families across Washington County will be sitting down to share Thanksgiving dinner. The 2000 Turkeys campaign is working hard to make sure that every Washington County family in need enjoys a turkey dinner this holiday.

And thanks to the generous businesses, organizations and individuals in Washington County, we’re getting closer to our goal.

To date, the 2017 2000 Turkeys campaign, which benefits the Greater Washington County Food Bank, has raised $71,767.

We’re getting closer to our goal of raising $100,000, but we have plenty of work to do.

On Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Range Resources employees will be on the streets of Washington to help raise money and collect food donations for the 2000 Turkeys campaign. Volunteers will be stationed at street corners to collect donations, and at the Main Street Farmers Market pavilion, where canned goods and nonperishable foods can be dropped off.

Since 2015, when Range kick-started its fundraiser, the company has donated $122,000 toward the 2000 Turkeys campaign. We’re grateful.

We are thrilled with every donation, from the $5 donation stuck to a post-it note to large donations from companies. Every penny helps.

Please send your tax-deductible donation, payable to 2000 Turkeys, to 2000 Turkeys, P.O. Box 2000, Washington, PA 15301. Or, drop off your donation at WJPA Radio, 98 S. Main St., Washington, or at the Observer-Reporter, next door, at 122 S. Main St.
