The Washington County Gay Straight Alliance Inc., will host a Candlelight Walk through downtown Washington on Monday to recognize Transgender Day of Remembrance. All are welcome to participate, and walking after the program is optional. The program will begin at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Wheeling St., and end with refreshments and fellowship at the Center on Strawberry, 59 E. Strawberry Ave.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance memorial is an international movement and has been held on Nov. 20 each year since its creation in 1998. This is the fifth year the WCGSA has locally held the event, which honors transgender people who have died due to violence, hate and discrimination. For more information, visit www.WCGSA.org.
