Area first responders receive donation
Chevron Appalachia recently announced a donation of $143,500 to 57 volunteer fire departments and first responders throughout its operating area in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Each department – including 39 agencies throughout Washington, Greene, Fayette and Westmoreland counties – will receive a $2,500 donation.
Trip Oliver, Chevron manager of policy, government and public affairs, said the company recognizes “that it’s a privilege to operate in these communities. Giving back and partnering with stakeholders at the local level, including first responders, is a responsibility that we take seriously.”
Roy Shipley, director of the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency, said the donation is very helpful.
“It will be used to help maintain our equipment and meters and the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBAs) used by the emergency management association,” Shipley said.
Departments in Washington County receiving donations include the county Hazardous Materials Team, Amwell, Denbo, East Bethlehem, Marianna, McDonald and Midway. Greene departments include the county Emergency Management Association, Bobtown, Carmichaels, Center, Clarksville, Greensboro – Monongahela, Jefferson, Rices Landing and Waynesburg. Point Marion in Fayette County was also among the recipients.
