The Mid Mon Valley Cultural Trust in partnership with Community Bank has published the winning entries from the 2017 MMVCT Art Competition. “Happiness Box of Cards” are for sale just in time for the holidays. The project was an opportunity to display artists working and living in Mon Valley communities.

The limited edition box of all-occasion cards represents four age categories as well as People’s Choice entries. The goal is to publish the art in a box of cards each year, which will serve to narrate a history of Mon Valley art and artists.

This year’s winning entrants are: Alex Kolowitz in the 8-11 age category; Bela Ronzio in the 12-14 age category; Lauren Rockwell in the 15-18 age category; Andrea Parasolick in the 19-plus age category; and People’s Choice Winners Bela Ronzio and Francine Herent Miceli.

Community Bank and MMVCT will give a portion of the proceeds from each box of cards to local libraries. Throughout the competition, local libraries have provided a venue to exhibit all of the entries and a place for artists to display their work.

The 2018 MMVCT Art Competition will be launched in December. The trust also hopes to include a photography genre.

Each box of cards can be purchased for $10 at Community Bank in Rostraver (Belle Vernon), Monessen or Monongahela and California Public Library. Other libraries will have information to order online.
