THS students get creative for fundraiser
Trinity High School students enrolled in Elizabeth Husk’s virtual business 1 class used creative marketing strategies to help promote a popular, local event.
The Greater Washington County Food Bank will host the 10th annual “Taste of Washington” Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Meadows Racetrack and Casino’s events center.
At least 25 local restaurants, including Angelo’s Restaurant, Buford’s Kitchen, Fusion Japanese Steakhouse, Toscana Brick Oven, Bistecca Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Emerald Valley Artisans, Main St. Hotdogs, Palazzo 1837 Ristorante, Parlay Lounge, Vagabond Tacos, and the Meadows will be participate by serving menu samples for tasting.
Trinity students developed flyers, billboards and commercials, which were presented to Connie Burd, food bank executive director, and Peg Wilson, food bank president. The products were displayed by several Washington merchants.
The opportunity allowed students to gain hands-on experience and insight to real-world business interactions, said Husk.
“I was very proud of my students’ participation of this project,” Husk said. “I love giving them real-life experiences while also helping in the community.”
Tickets can be purchased for $40 before the event at www.showclix.com/event/taste-of-washington or for $45 at the door.
