McDonald to be honored by LeMoyne Center
The LeMoyne Community Center will hold the sixth annual Community Roast from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel, 340 Racetrack Road, North Strabane Township.
The event honors community members who have been involved with the center and its programs, and who have helped to maintain the integrity of the center over its 60 years of existence.
These men and women have been trailblazers, as exemplified by one of this year’s honorees, Traci McDonald. In November 2016, McDonald was elected the first female African-American district judge in Washington County.
Also honored will be Richard (Ricky) Mull, a longtime educator whose career was inspired by Pearl Harris, his only African-American teacher, and Nettie Robinson, posthumously, a woman widely recognized for her tireless volunteer work in the church and community.
Judge Dwayne Woodruff of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas will be the evening’s master of ceremonies.
Tickets are $60 and can be purchased at the LeMoyne Community Center, 200 Forrest Ave., Washington. For information, call 724-228-0260 or email thelmcc1956@gmail.com.
