Waynesburg Lions Club sponsoring poster contest
The Waynesburg Lions Club is sponsoring the 30th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest with the help of Margaret Bell Miller Middle School art teachers, Colby Love and Kristen Venturino.
The contest, which will emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere, is open to any Central Greene student who will be 11, 12 or 13 years old on Nov. 15. Eligible birthdates are Nov. 16, 2003, through Nov. 15, 2006.
The contest theme is “The Future of Peace.”
Posters will be evaluated on three criteria: originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.
Work must be no smaller than 13 inches by 20 inches and no larger than 20 inches by 24 inches. Work should not have a mat or frame, and must be the student’s original creation. One entry per student will be accepted and each entry must be the work of one student.
All artist signatures or initials should be written on the back of the poster.
All posters must be turned in by Tuesday to Love, Venturino or Principal John Lipscomb.
Posters will be judged Wednesday.
The first-place winner will be awarded $100 by the Waynesburg Lions Club, the second-place winner will win $75, and the third-place winner will win $50. All three will advance to the district level to be judged in November, and could advance to compete at multiple district and international competitions.
