Bradford House to hold poster contest
In conjunction with the annual Symposium on 18th Century Life and Customs in Western Pennsylvania, the Bradford House Museum is sponsoring two poster contests.
The topic of the contest, available to middle and high school students residing in Washington and Greene counties, is Western Pennsylvania history, 1750 to 1850.
Students are to construct a presentation on a standard-size trifold display board.
Students must register online at www.bradfordhouse.org from Jan. 2 to Feb. 15, and deliver the project to the Bradford House, 175 S. Main St., Washington, in early March.
There will be two judging divisions: middle school, grades 5 to 8, and high school, grades 9 to 12. The top five entries in each division will be displayed at the symposium.
Winners receive free admission to the symposium, plus admission for an adult. Prizes are $50 for first place, $25 for second place and $10 each for three honorable mentions. A special 2018 prize of $40 for the entry best portraying women in Western Pennsylvania history, from 1750 to 1850, will be awarded.
The judges reserve the right to not award all prizes if there are insufficient number and/or quality of entries.
Register by mailing the completed registration form to the Bradford House, PO Box 537, Washington, PA, 15301, or email bradfordhouseshop@hotmail.com.
