Tour the Montour bike ride planned
The Montour Trail Council’s 15th annual Tour the Montour Ride will be held Sept. 23.
It is a noncompetitive bicycle ride for all ages and abilities, featuring routes of six, 12, 24, 44 and 62 miles. All courses begin and end at Montour Trail Mile 0, located off Route 52, between the Coraopolis exit on Interstate 79 and the Coraopolis Bridge that connects to Neville Island.
Check-in begins at 7:15 a.m., and riders will leave between 8:15 and and 9 a.m., depending on the course. Rest stops with snacks and beverages will be stationed along the course, and a post-ride lunch is included with registration. Cost to participate is $35; children younger than 12 are free if accompanied by an adult. Advance registration is recommended, and helmets are mandatory for all riders.
The Montour Trail Council is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that builds, operates and maintains the trail. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources named the Montour Trail the 2017 Trail of the Year.
