Jeremy H. Woods, son of Jerry and Linda Woods of Amity, graduated from the U.S. Navy, Great Lakes, Ill. Woods will continue his training at San Diego, Calif. Woods is a 2016 graduate of Trinity High School.
Shane Declan Clark of McMurray was recently sworn in as a midshipman in the U.S. Naval Reserve at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y. Clark was nominated by Congressman Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District.
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is a federal service academy that educates and graduates licensed Merchant Marine officers. In addition to the rigorous academic and physical requirements for admission, applicants must be nominated by their congressman or senator. All USMMA graduates earn both a bachelor of science and a Merchant Marine officer license, and must serve the United States as an active or reserve officer in the U.S. armed forces. As part of his four-year education, Clark will spend one year training as a cadet aboard ocean-going vessels.
