Faith in Action to hold orientation
The Faith in Action program, a part of TRPIL Community Services, will hold a volunteer orientation for new volunteers at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Washington.
Faith in Action needs more volunteers throughout Washington County to assist with senior citizens and individuals with disabilities who want to remain independent in their own homes. Some volunteers provide rides to grocery stores or appointments, supportive visits where they just spend time together and telephone reassurance, assist with meals or give a family member who is the primary caregiver a few hours’ break.
Faith in Action is a free program for those who receive care and offers an opportunity for anyone of any faith to help others. For more information about Faith in Action in Washington County, visit the TRPIL website at www.tripil.com and click on the Faith in Action link. Also, visit the TRPIL Facebook page every Sunday for the latest volunteer needs. Typical volunteers give an hour or two per week or month, based on their schedules and interests.
Faith in Action is partnered with 29 area churches for promotion and support, and the program would like to expand to more churches and houses of worship.
Those who are interested in attending the orientation and churches interested in joining the network of Faith in Action supporters are asked to call Sandy Sabot, Faith in Action program director, at 724-223-5115, ext. 1203. Deadline to register for the orientation is noon Sept. 27.
