Literacy Council is seeking volunteers
The Literacy Council of Southwestern Pennsylvania is seeking volunteers.
Since 1985, the Literacy Council has transformed the lives of adults and their families throughout Washington County. The LCSWPA is a volunteer run, privately funded nonprofit with a mission to promote economic opportunity, a strong and united community and a higher quality of life for all people through literacy. LCSWPA has helped improve the reading, writing and English skills of thousands of adults and families in the community.
LCWPA in collaboration with Intermediate Unit 1 provides adult tutoring services through its adult basic education, English as a Second Language and GED test preparation programs. It supports the families of the students by offering a children’s literacy program and the signature Baby Book Bag program.
A new tutor workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 14. To register, call 724-228-6199 or email jessica@lcswpa.org. Visit www.lcswpa.org to learn more.
