California man named Grand Master

Larry D. Horath of California has been appointed as the district deputy grand master for Masonic District 31 by Right Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, S. Eugene Herritt.

Horath’s role is to support Masonic programs, oversee operations of the nine Masonic lodges within his district, advise members and arbitrate concerns. His official presentation will take place at 1 p.m. Feb. 3, at Fayette Lodge No. 228, on Pittsburgh and Peter Streets, Uniontown.

A member of Henry M. Phillips Masonic Lodge 337, Monongahela, Horath is a graduate of Charleston High School, Charleston, Ill. He earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology and a master of science degree in technology from Eastern Illinois University; a doctor of philosophy degree in industrial, vocational and technical education from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas; a bachelor of arts degree in foreign languages and culture and a master of science degree in multimedia technology from California University of Pennsylvania.

He is a professor in the Applied Engineering & Technology Department of California University of Pennsylvania.
