Lane restrictions scheduled for I-70 in Rostraver Township
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation scheduled single-lane restrictions on Interstate 70 eastbound and westbound today and tomorrow between Exit 49 (Smithton) and Exits 46A/B (Route 51) in Rostraver Township.
Restrictions will be in place between 9 a.m. to and 3 p.m. for crews from Geronimo Painting to work on the containment on the Matthew Smelser Memorial Bridge.
The work is part of the $120.6 million I-70 project involving the widening and reconstruction of the interstate along with the reconstruction of the Route 51 Interchange (Exit 46) to replace it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). Plans for the DDI include one mile of reconstruction and widening on Route 51 and several roads, including the relocation of Finley Road and Route 981. Anticipated project completion is October 2027.
