Gov. Wolf extends expiration for license to carry permits

1 min read

Gov. Tom Wolf has extended the expiration on license to carry permits, giving Pennsylvanians more time to renew.

According to a release from the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association, any permit that expired on March 19 or later has been extended to May 30.

Anyone 21 or older can apply for a license by submitting an application to the sheriff of their county. The sheriff then has 45 days to investigate the applicant and determine if they eligible for a license.

“This is very good news for all 67 Pennsylvania county sheriff’s offices,” said Timothy Chamberlain, president of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association, in the release. “Sheriffs have been trying to balance the need of protecting Pennsylvanians from this coronavirus and the rights of gun owners. This extension will help everyone affected.”

According to the Washington County website, the sheriff’s office will start the process for a gun permit by appointment only, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Appointments can be made by calling 724-228-6840 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
