Up on the rooftop, out jumps good old Santa Claus

Allison Park Elementary students got a surprise from principal Anastasia Andronas when they arrived at school last week.
Andronas, dressed as good old Santa Claus, stood up on the rooftop to greet students.
“I have wanted to do this for years,” said Andronas, who spent an hour waving and chatting to kids as they pulled up to the bus loop and parent drop-off spots. “The kids loved it. Every minute of it was worth it, to see their reactions, which ranged from smiles and laughter to looks of concern. They kept coming outside to look and wave.”
There were no reindeer and sleigh to get Andronas to the top of the roof – she climbed a ladder on the side of the building to get to the rooftop.
But playing Santa Claus wasn’t Andronas’s only surprise for the children.
Later in the week, she headed into the cafeteria during lunchtime and climbed onto cafeteria tables to recreate the scene from the movie “Elf” where Will Ferrell’s Buddy the Elf dances on tables.
“Everybody knows my love for Christmas is off the charts, and at the elementary school, we get a little crazy around the holiday,” she said, laughing and sharing a quote from the 2003 movie. “I tell my kids, ‘The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.'”
