“Tropical Forest Panama” is at Phipps Conservatory
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh is presenting “Tropical Forest Panama,” which immerses visitors in the nature, culture and interconnectedness of the Panamanian forest system.
The exhibit features a park ranger station and looks at research methods that are used on trees in the Panamanian forest with activities like knot tying and tree core aging. Visitors will be able to listen to the sounds of various monkey species and view a live poison dart frog terrarium. They will also be able to get an up-close look at forest floor decomposers, including live whip scorpions, hissing cockroaches and mycella.
“Tropical Forest Panama” will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and until 10 p.m. on Fridays. Timed tickets must be reserved in advance. For tickets or additional information, go online to phipps.conservatory.org/Panama.
