Shelter reservation dates scheduled
Church of Christ, 700 Allison Ave., Washington, will hold its third toy giveaway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
One toy per child up to a maximum of five children will be distributed.
Toys have been donated by members of the congregation and the community. Local restaurants and retailers are donating food, drinks and other items to support the project. The added help allows the church to offer free gift-wrapping, batteries for toys and a free breakfast for those who attend.

Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation, room 705, Courthouse Square, will begin accepting 2013 shelter reservations for Mingo Creek, Ten Mile Creek and Cross Creek County parks Jan. 14.
Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Reservations will be accepted in person or by application through the mail.
Beginning Feb. 1, reservations will be accepted by phone with a credit card. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Payment in full is due at the time of the reservation.
Permit applications are available at the following locations in Washington County: Agway, Eighty Four; Bentleyville Library; Brownsville municipal building; Burgettstown, California, Canonsburg Donora, McDonald and Monongahela borough buildings; Charleroi Chamber of Commerce; Cross Creek Township building; Curtis Pharmacy, Claysville; Giant Eagle, Finleyville; Peters Township municipal building; Ten Mile Junction, Fredericktown; and Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency.

Be a Santa to a senior holiday gift-wrapping event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Home Instead Senior Care, 2000 Oxford Drive, Suite 470, Bethel Park.
Community volunteers will wrap hundreds of holiday gifts collected for area seniors in need. Volunteers will deliver the gifts to area seniors.

Jingle Bell run and walk to benefit the Arthritis Foundation will be held Saturday at the Great Lawn, Pittsburgh. Registration and activities begin at 7:30 a.m., and the event begins at 10.
