Pittsburgh to hold Light-Up Night

2 min read

The 53rd annual Light-Up Night in Pittsburgh will be held today, with a full slate of activities and entertainment throughout the city beginning at noon.

To help those who plan to attend navigate the various venues, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership has developed a new microsite, www.DowntownPittsburgh.com/Holiday, that includes schedules and maps for Light-Up Night, the Peoples Gas Holiday Market, shopping and special weekend activities.

While most of the traditional features will return, several new activities are planned, and the number of musical stages programmed throughout the evening will increase to four, including the Northwest Savings Bank Stage at Mellon Square, Market Square Stage, the EQT Jazzmasters Stage at EQT Plaza and the Clemente Bridge Party.

The Clemente Bridge also will offer prime viewing for the BNY Mellon Fireworks Finale, which is being launched from the adjacent Andy Warhol Bridge at 7 p.m.

Smithfield Street will be closed for a “Dance Through the Decades” disco, complete with special laser effects and bubble machines. There also will be a bistro with several food options available in Mellon Square.

Events also will be held at the City-County Building , U.S. Steel Tower, Allegheny Courthouse, One Oxford Centre, PPG Plaza, Macy’s, Fifth Avenue Place and PPG Place & Ice Rink.
