Holiday open house will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Friends of Bowlby Library will sponsor a cookie walk, cookie basket raffle, children’s holiday basket raffle and a holiday quilt raffle. Tickets are on sale at the library. There also will be a holiday story hour with Santa as well as photos with Santa. Photos will be available to purchase.

Medical Insurance Marketplace information session will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, and will be repeated from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 11. A representative from two area marketplaces will be available.

After-hours holiday pajama party sponsored by the Children’s and Family Literacy departments will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13. There will be holiday games, cookies and milk, crafts and a holiday movie. Registration is required; call the library.

Christmas movie night will begin at 5:30 Dec. 9 in the community room. “Elf” will be shown. Registration is required.

Professional organizer Donna Rossa will provide tips on how to organize Christmas clutter at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10. Registration is required.

Drop & Shop will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Parents can drop off school-aged children, who will be entertained while parents spend the night shopping. A certified teacher will be on hand. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Paper tree program will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 12. Participants will learn how to make a Christmas tree out of an old paperback book. Materials will be provided. Registration is required.

Senior Lunch & Learn, “History of the Holidays,” will begin at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 13. Visiting angels will put a fun spin on the history of the holidays. Registration is required.

Annual Christmas party will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14. There will be food and activities, and youngsters can decorate the tree and make a holiday craft. Registration is appreciated, but not required.

Nemacolin Castle trip will begin at 4 p.m. Dec. 15. Cost is $25 and includes transportation and admission. Space is limited.

Gingerbread house competition for sixth- through 12th-graders will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10. Awards for most traditional, book tie-in, most creative and teens’ choice will be presented. Family Holiday FUN Day will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 14. There will be holiday stories, movies, a craft and refreshments. Registration is requested by Dec. 12 by contacting the Children’s Department.

Sutch Sounds, featuring Adam Sutch on the dulcimer, will perform during the noontime speaker program Dec. 17. The program is free; lunch is available for $5. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Dino World for third- through fifth-graders is held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays. Students are invited to help make a table-top prehistoric scene complete with a tar pit, a 2-foot high volcano, plants and plastic dinosaurs. One-time fee is $5.
