Fourth of July
The Greater Brownsville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold at its annual fireworks celebration July 3 at Patsy Hillman Park in Luzerne Township.
Festivities get under way at 4:45 p.m. with the raising of the flag by local Scout troops. Afterward, musical entertainment will be provided by Brownsville Area High School and the Mon Valley Community Band. Fireworks will follow.
The chamber will provide free face-painting and a candy scramble for youngsters, and the Rotary Club will host a bounce house. Rotarians also will sell patriotic trinkets to raise money to support its community programs, and the concession stand will be open.
Charleroi Borough will hold its annual Community Day and fireworks July 3.
There will be games, crafts, bounce house, face-painting and entertainment from noon to 8 p.m. at the Market House.
A kids fishing clinic for 8- to 14-year-olds will begin at 11 a.m. at Trustees Park. From noon to 3 p.m., a fishing contest will be held, and prizes will be awarded.
Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m., followed by a beach party at Magic City Square.
A charity duck race, food booths, car cruise and first responders and patriotic bike parade also are being planned.
Fredericktown Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its ninth annual Fireworks and Riverfest at 2 p.m. July 5 along the river in a Fredericktown.
Those who attend should bring their own chairs. Festivities will be held as follows:
• Shriner clowns – 2:30 to 4 p.m.
• Hollow Lines Band, featuring three students from the Bethlehem-Center School District – 3 to 4:30 p.m.
• Barnyard petting zoo and pony rides – 5 to 8 p.m.
• Flashback Band – 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
• Fireworks – 9:30 p.m.
There also will be food booths, craft vendors and face-painting for children.

Oglebay will celebrate Independence Day July 3 with freworks at 9:30 p.m. at Schenk Lake.
Festivities also will include Fort Henry re-enactors from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wagon Shed Shelter and an ice-carving demonstration by Chris Kefauver from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Wagon Shed.
Picnic-style food service will be available at Schenk Lake from 5 to 9 p.m., and the De’ja’vu Band will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
