Little Lake to hold theater classes
Little Lake Theatre Company will hold theater classes for adults, teens and children this summer.
Classes include opportunities for learning onstage and behind the scenes in the “I Can Do That!” acting class for adults, all ages 18 and older; “Techie Training,” a stagecraft class for all ages 16 and older; and Theatre Arts Summer Camp, for students in grades 4-12.
The “I Can Do That!” acting class is for beginners who long to give acting a try as well as for more experienced actors who want to sharpen their skills. The class, taught by Little Lake’s artistic director, Sunny Disney Fitchett, and Art DeConciliis, a veteran of 132 Little Lake productions, has been popular for more than 20 years. The class will include monologue and scene work as well as exercises and games that are relevant to an actor’s work. The class will be held on Tuesdays form 7 to 9 p.m., June 3-Aug. 19.
“Techie Training” is for theater-lovers, ages 16-80, who prefer behind-the-scenes work, and will provide a glimpse into the creativity in areas of stagecraft, design, scenic carpentry, lighting tech and design, sound effects, rigging, special effects and more. Nathan Bell, who has served as Little Lake’s technical director, will give students a look into the hands-on collaboration and nuts-and-bolts preparation that goes into playmaking. The six-week class will meet on Wednesday evenings, July 16-Aug. 20.
Little Lake’s Theatre Arts Summer Camp is a way for kids to explore an interest in acting. Two sessions will be held: July 14-26 and July 28-Aug. 9, with campers meeting from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Campers will receive training from professionals in areas that include character and scene study, the rehearsal process, vocal projection, movement and other skills that build stage confidence. The camp culminates in a special showcase performance for family and friends.
