Check out Halloween TV treats

2 min read

Let’s face it: We can’t rely on seasonal shifts to mark the start of a festive fall season. October in Florida needs all the help it can get. That’s why we need spooky decorations, haunted theme park attractions and, of course, Halloween-themed television.

To get you in the mood, here are some of our top TV picks airing over the next few weeks.

For two weeks, the channel will be home to a slew of classic horror movies. It gets started at 9 a.m. today with a Stephen King marathon.

Another highlight of the channel’s Fear Fest is on Monday, when all of the Friday the 13th movies will be shown.

On Sunday at 9 p.m., the three remaining teams on Food Network’s Halloween staple must create a display that showcases the battle between mummies and werewolves.

In Oct. 26’s finale, two teams made up of a pumpkin carver, cake decorator and sugar artist have to conjure up something that captures a “Haunted Carnival.”

The Simpsons’ “Treehouse of Horror XXV” episode will air at 8 p.m. Sunday on Fox.

It’s the 25th installment of the Simpsons’ annual Treehouse of Horror episodes, with three new hair-raising tales including Bart and Lisa’s journey to a demon-filled alternate universe and visits from former Tracey Ullman-era versions of the Simpsons.

ABC Family’s annual movie marathon kicks off Sunday and runs through Oct. 31, with classic family-friendly favorites like “Casper,” “Beetlejuice,” “The Addams Family” and “The Hunger Games,” plus some ABC Family original shows. Find the full schedule at abcfam.ly/1vrsRgG.

“The Great Halloween Fright Fight” will air at 8 p.m. Oct. 28 on ABC.

It’s like last year’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight,” but with spectacular Halloween displays. The one-hour special features families competing to see who has best elaborate haunted decorations.
