NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Tracy Morgan is responding to allegations made by Wal-Mart in his lawsuit over a highway crash earlier this year that killed one of his friends.

Wal-Mart claimed in a court filing Monday that the actor-comedian and his traveling companions were partly to blame for their injuries in the June crash because they weren’t wearing seatbelts.

A Wal-Mart truck slammed into the back of the van Morgan and others were riding in on the New Jersey Turnpike, killing one passenger and injuring several others. Morgan suffered leg and rib injuries.

In a statement released Tuesday by Morgan’s publicist, he says he “can’t believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused.”

Morgan goes on to say that he and his friends were doing nothing wrong.
