Tri-State Radio Fest features vintage radios
Hundreds of vintage radios and early audio equipment will be featured at the Tri-State Radio Fest May 3 at the Center Stage Banquet Hall, 1495 Old Brodhead Road, Monaca.
Sponsored by the Pittsburgh Antique Radio Society and the Buckeye Antique Radio and Phonograph Club of Akron, Ohio, the event will showcase the work of noted industrial designers of the Golden Age of Radio (1920s to the 1950s). Various cabinet styles – cathedral, tombstone, cube and table-top – that were produced for living rooms of the day will be on display.
Radios with the Atwater Kent nameplate, which were recognized for their quality and design, will be featured at the show. Those who attend can vote for their favorites.
Doors open at 8:30 a.m. with a flea market, where vendors from throughout the region will offer radios and related pieces for sale. Door and raffle prizes will be awarded throughout the morning, and an auction will follow at noon. A restored cathedral-style 1934 Atwater Kent Model 206 will be the main raffle prize.
Admission is $5. Children 12 and younger are free. Food will be available.
