Greater Washington County Food Bank launches fundraising campaign

1 min read

Greater Washington County Food Bank has launched a fundraising campaign. The group is seeking to generate $500,000 for its new facility in Centerville, the former Country Fresh Market along Route 40.

The building is 24,500 square feet, compared to the current building of 9,500 square feet. It also will provide additional freezer and cold storage space, along with four loading docks for shipping and receiving purposes.

The group’s main fundraiser is the “Wall of Hope Brick Campaign.” Individuals or companies can purchase a personalized engraved brick for $200 or a personalized engraved granite for $1,000. Each brick will be prominently displayed at the new facility and serve as a permanent link to the food bank’s mission.

The food bank also is hosting the Big Tomato Contest, running until Aug. 31, and Growing Season, Grow a Row for the Hungry. For more information on how to help support the food bank, call 724-229-8175 ext. 5, or email at donorrelationscoordinator@gwcfb.org.
