CASA open houses

Court Appointed Special Advocates for Kids Inc. will hold a six-week fall training program Monday and Wednesday evenings for interested community members, beginning Oct. 5.

Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, and they must be able to pass FBI and Pennsylvania Child Abuse background checks. Volunteers will receive 30 hours of in-service training and six hours of court observation before being sworn in as an advocate.

To help prepare for the classes, CASA will hold informational open houses as follows:

• Monday, 4:30 to 6 p.m. – John K. Tener Library, 638 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi;

• Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Peters Township Library, 616 E. McMurray Road, McMurray;

• Thursday, 4 to 6 p.m. at the CASA Office, 30 E. Beau St., Suite 421, Washington;

• Sept. 9, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Citizens Library, 55 S. College St., Washington;

• Sept. 10, 10:30 a.m. to noon – Burgettstown Library, 2 Kerr St.;

• Sept. 11, 2 to 4 p.m. – Monongahela Library, 813 W. Main St.
