Mini Authors Summit presented by local mystery authors Annette Dashofy, Mary Sutton, Tamara Girardi and Jeff Boarts will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Refreshments will be served.

Beginners’ Tai Chi classes begin at 10 a.m. every Thursday, followed by the advanced class at 11. Cost is $10 per person per session. No payment is required for missed classes. The library receives half of the proceeds from each session.

Burgettstown Quilters and Quilters’ Friends Group are raffling off a handmade queen-size quilt. Tickets are $1 each, and the winner will be based on the first number drawn Nov. 30 on the 7 p.m. Pick 3. All proceeds benefit the library. The library will raffle off a Steelers basket that includes more than $250 worth of Steelers merchandise and two tickets to a Steelers game. The drawing will be held Nov. 13.

Author Jim Douglas, a local historian, will discuss his book, “Born to Serve: The Major A.G. Happer Story,” which examines Washington County’s forgotten Civil War hero and his extended family, at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Twice wounded, left for dead on the battlefield, rescued by a slave and taken as a Prisoner of War, Happer persevered to survive. He also was chosen by the governor to ride on the “Lincoln Special” with the slain president through Pennsylvania. Books will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served.

Chess Club will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday. All ages and levels of play are welcome.

Lego Club will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 9 and 23. The program is open to all ages, although it is recommended for those 5 and older. The Children’s Department also is accepting donations of new or gently used Lego sets.
