For the first time, the Washington Symphony Orchestra will bring its annual chamber concert, “Up Close and Personal,” to the P.C. Rossin Campus Center Ballroom at Washington & Jefferson College.

The performance will be held at 3 p.m. March 20.

The concert’s format also will be new. In a “prism concert,” the ensembles are stationed around the room, so that all audience members will be no more than a few feet away from the music, no matter where they are sitting.

“Up Close and Personal” gives the symphony’s audience a chance to hear an all-classics program in an intimate setting. The program will include Rutter’s “Suite Antique,” Mozart’s “Serenade in B flat Major, K361, Gran Partita” and Dukas’ “Fanfare” from La Peri.

The conductor will be William Galvin, the former director of instrumental studies and Music Department chairman at Trinity High School.

Featured on “Suite Antique” will be flute soloist Susan Hartger of Washington. Hartger is a member of the Beau Street Players, a musical chamber group that plays Renaissance, baroque, early American and Celtic music on traditional instruments. With the Beau Street Players, Hartger plays modern and baroque flute, recorders, penny whistles and krumhorns.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at washsym.org, by calling 888-71-TICKETS or at the following locations: Citizens Library, Peters Township Public Library or the WSO office, by appointment only, at 11 S. College St.,Washington.
