Fundraiser benefits Mon library
When Monongahela Area Library realized earlier this year that it wasn’t going to have enough money to meet its financial needs, a group of women came to the rescue.
Corrina Withrow, Michelle DeHosse, Sabrina Bowen, Michelle Parnell and Matti Gruzs comprise the Library Fundraiser Group, which started meeting Friday mornings at Little City Coffee to brainstorm their ideas.
The first was a spaghetti dinner at the TWIST in New Eagle, and it was a big hit. Donations of supplies and time poured in – and so did the diners.
Those who were unable to make the dinner either stopped by the library to donate money or mailed in checks. Many more started asking about the next spaghetti dinner fundraiser.
Since Italian Village Pizza in Monongahela was already holding an all-you-can-eat pizza fundraiser from 4 to 9 p.m. every Monday in March, the group decided to wait until April.
And that’s when the New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department became involved, offering its social hall for free.
The next spaghetti dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 11 at the New Eagle VFD social hall, 156 Chess St. Cost will be $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger. Children 3 and younger who attend eat free. Takeout will be available.
Other fundraising events and opportunities include:
• Amazon SMILE – Shop at www.smile.amazon.com, and Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase to the shopper’s designated charity.
• Primary Election Day Bake Sale – 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 26 at the library. To make a culinary donation, find Monongahela Area Library Lovers, the LFG page, on Facebook or call the library at 724-258-5409.
