“Mexican Masks: Symbols, Celebrations, Satire and Safety,” an exhibit at the Latin American Cultural Center in Oakland, will run from Sept. 26 through April 27, 2024. The exhibit uses photos, artworks, videos, and masks-both ancient and contemporary-from diverse regions of Mexico to highlight the many prominent roles of masks in the country’s culture. The Carnegie Museum of Art has a number of offerings upcoming. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley will celebrate the work of local artists with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Council for the Arts 28th Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibition. On view Friday, Nov. 17 through February 4, 2024, the exhibition features work by artists from the 19 southwestern counties of Pennsylvania. The Art Connection and Youth Art Studio classes begin next month at Carnegie Museum of Art. The connection classes are geared toward those in grades 5 through 9 and will be held Saturday mornings beginning Oct. 14. “Titanic,” an artifact exhibit, will be displayed at the Carnegie Science Center through Monday, April 15, 2024. Visitors can explore room recreations and hear passenger stories while viewing 154 artifacts recovered from the wreckage.

Westmoreland 250, an exhibit celebrating Westmoreland County’s 250th anniversary, is now open at the Westmoreland History Education Center, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Greensburg. More than 30 historical societies, museums, and other organizations across the county have loaned objects and/or pictures for the exhibit. The exhibit will be open throughout the year. “Imprinting in Their Time: Japanese Printmakers, 1912-2022” is now open at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. The exhibition examines how the role of a printmaker has transformed through international encounters, new sources of inspiration, and artistic motivation.

“Pittsburgh and the Great Migration: Black Mobility and the Automobile,” is now open at the Car and Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh. The exhibit will run through Feb. 4, 2024, and features well-known favorites like the 1914 Ford Model T Touring Car and the 1922 Lincoln Model L. “Impressionist Legacies: The Michael and Aimee Rusinko Kakos Collection,” an exhibit at St. Vincent’s Verostko Center, runs through Friday, Dec. 8. The Beesontown Singers of Uniontown will hold two “Christmas Around the World” holiday choral programs. Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s 24th annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive begins runs through Dec. 15. Donors are invited to drop off new or gently-used adult and child-sized sweaters in collection bins outside the museum’s front entrance as well as other locations throughout the region.

West Overton Village in Scottdale will hold a holiday makers market Dec. 2 and 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. There is no admission charge. The Train Gang of Washington County will be operating its model railroad in Washington Crown Center Mall, 1500 West Chestnut St., Washington throughout December.
