Lt. James D. Duff III graduated with distinction from the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he majored in economics, with a minor in German. Duff was in the top 10 percent of his class and was named to the dean’s list four semesters. He was the athletic commander for basic training in 2012, supervising 1,000 cadets, and earned his Jump Wings and the German Proficiency Badge. He is a 2009 graduate of Trinity High School, and his parents are James and Karen Huff of Washington. He was selected for pilot training in Columbus, Miss.
