James and Bettie Dallmeyer of Washington will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.

Mr. and Mrs. Dallmeyer were married March 15, 1944, in Mt. Prospect Church, Hickory, with the Rev. C.S. Thomas officiating.

The couple have three daughters, Linda Hutchison of New Brunswick, N.J., Lois (the late James) Nesbitt of Murrysville and Leah (Arnold) Lewis of Sissonville, W.Va.

They have six grandchildren, Sarah Hutchison, Robyn Nesbitt, Bonnie Nesbitt, Annie Lewis Shipman and Allison and Andrea Lewis. A grandson, Benjamin James Nesbitt, is deceased. They also have three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dallmeyer served 19 months overseas in the U.S. Air Force Communications System during World War II and retired from the Teamsters after 37 years of service.

Mrs. Dallmeyer graduated from Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing. She earned a bachelor’s degree in school nursing from California Teachers College and retired after serving 24 years as school nurse in Fort Cherry School District.

After retiring in 1983, the couple traveled extensively in their recreational vehicle throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. They also made several trips overseas. Both are members of Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church. They are members of Hickory High School Class of 1939 and share the same birthday.
