McGuffey student wins essay contest

On Nov. 25, Grand Knight Christopher Scott, left, and Deputy Grand Knight Paul Marcucci, right, presented an award and check for $150 to the Knights of Columbus Council #3440 Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest Champion Nancy Zerla, a senior at McGuffey High School, at the Knights of Columbus Pavilion in Burgettstown. The topic of the essay was “Going to the Peripheries” to encounter Jesus Christ. Nancy wrote about her uncle, the Rev. Joseph Wilhelm, S.M., who was a marist priest for 58 years.
