Sayre – 65 years
Giard and Alice Sayre of Claysville will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Sayre were married February 21, 1952, at Blackdore United Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh.
Their children are Linda (Bob) Miller, Debby (Richard) Clutter, Barby (Doug) May, Kathy (Dave) Johnson, Marten (Sheree) Sayre, Peggy (Mike) Teagarden and Nancy Riggle.
They are the grandparents of Patrick (Ju-Yeon) and Michael Miller; Rachele and Matthew Clutter; Erika (Jeremy) Dressback and Sondra (Marc) Fatigati; Jennifer (Andy) Chumney, Rebekah Yurkovich and Danny Johnson; Andy Sayre; Jay (Janine) and Joe (Marla) Teagarden; Chelsey Polewski and Zachary Riggle.
Their great-grandchildren are Lillian, Avri, Abbi, Audri, Maya, Christian, Ava, Alex, Wyatt, Jason and Jonah.
The couple were both born in Pittsburgh and attended school together at Westinghouse, where Giard was the school photographer. The couple married after Giard returned from the Korean War, where he also was a photographer.
“Gi” is a retired United Methodist Church minister, having served many local churches from Distant to Claysville to Johnstown. He also drove a school bus for McGuffey School District for many years.
Alice is a homemaker and also served as her husband’s secretary. She later worked at Camera and Card Store in the former Franklin Mall.
