New Freeport Ladies Auxiliary will offer country music from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at New Freeport Fire Hall. Smokey Robbins will perform from 7 to 8:30 followed by Sandy Huffman from 8:30 to 10. Admission is $5 per person.

The Amwell Township Reunion will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Amity Fire Hall. Bring a covered dish.

Tractor Supply Company, Washington, will host pet adoptions, a pet supplies drive and more from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdayas part of Out Here with Animals, its month-long event for animals and the people who care for them. All types of animals are welcome. Participating local organizations include the Washington Humane Society. Throughout the month, the retailer is accepting new sealed food, toys, cleaning supplies, pet beds, scratching posts, leashes, bowls and more to be donated to Washington rescues and shelters. Fort Vance Historical Society will host speaker, historian John Punola, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the meeting room at Burgettstown Community Library, 2 Kerr St. Punola will present “What you didn’t know about the Civil War.” The McDonald native is on the staff of Civil War News. Fort Vance will also display its collection of local Civil War letters from the Scott Family of the Bethel Ridge area. The subjects discussed between the family ranges from everyday life to the battlefields. Other local Civil War information will be available for viewing. Oglebay Woodcarvers Guild of Wheeling’s 39th Annual Oglebay Woodcarvers Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1 and 2, in the Pine Room (Crispin Center) at Oglebay Park, adjacent to the park’s pool. Admission is free, and each visitor will receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a locally produced carving. Drawings will be once every hour during the show and the winner must be present to win. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Raffle tickets will be sold for prizes. All drawings to be held at the conclusion of the Show on Sunday; winners not required to be present. Additional family activities held throughout the park will include reenactments, swimming, golfing, and fireworks set to music.

West Alexander Fair will take place Sept. 3-8 at 116 Route 40 West. The fair opens at noon on Sept. 3 and Sept. 8. The gates open at 5 p.m. Sept. 2-7. Daily gate admission is $8 per person. A weekly pass is $28 (includes amusement rides and grandstand). Everyone coming through the gate must have an admission ticket. A livestock exhibitor weekly pass is $20. The Greene County Department of Recreation will present “Thankful Thursdays,” a monthly program focusing on the benefits of essential oils, the first Thursday of each month, through December in the upper level at the Greene County Fairground’s 4-H Building. The first event is Sept. 6 During each class, host Kelly Mackey will offer free Itovi scans, which show what oils each participant’s body is most receptive to at the time of the scan.
