Students honored by civic club
Alexis Belle Ellsworth, a senior at Carmichaels Area Senior High School, has been named Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club’s November Girl of the Month. At school, she is the marching band majorette captain and student treasurer; a member of the high school choir, drama club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and National Honor Society (NHS). She is the morning news anchor for Mike’s Nation, sporting event announcer, elementary basketball coach and writer for the Mighty Mike Messenger. Outside activities include being a member of Roane County 4-H Club. After high school, she plans to attend Saint Vincent College to obtain a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and special education. She hopes to become a majorette for the March of the Bearcats. Alexis is the daughter of Chasity and Brent Ellsworth of Carmichaels.
Jadyn Barnish, a senior at Carmichaels Area High School, was named the civic club’s December Girl of the Month. At school, she is a member of the volleyball team and was named to the All-Country team and Section 2-A All-Star second team for the last two years. She is involved in the marching, concert and county bands, where she is the clarinet section leader. She also participates in basketball, National Honor Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Senior Standing Committee. She writes for the school newspaper. Outside of school, she plays volleyball in the off-season. Jadyn plans to attend Penn State University-Fayette Campus to earn a degree in nursing and play volleyball. She hopes to one day attend graduate school and become a neonatal nurse practitioner. Jadyn is the daughter of Jim and Michelle Barnish of Rices Landing.
