Golden Triangle Decorative Painters will meet at 9:30 a.m. today at Finleyville I.O.O.F. Hall, 3684 Finleyville-Elrama Road. A business meeting will start at noon followed by lunch. Members will paint a patriotic pattern on walker bags to be donated to veterans. For information, call 724-785-5592.
Monessen/Rostraver and Belle Vernon Area Rotary clubs will host an Oldies Dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Jan. 27 in the Rostraver Central fire hall. DJ Trilli will play dance music. Cost is $15 ticket and includes beer, snacks, nacho bar and ice. Guests can bring their own drinks. The event includes a 50-50 raffle and chances to win a table of liquor and other beverages. Washington County Parks and Recreation will hold a guided snowshoeing walk at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mingo Creek County Park. Participants should meet at the park office. There will need to be at least 4 inches of snow for this program. If there is not enough snow, a hike will be offered. Dress appropriately. This program is free but registration is required. The department also will offer a Valentine’s Day program at 1 p.m. Jan. 31 for children ages 3 to 5 at the Mingo Creek Park office. Pennsylvania Federation of Business and Professional Women District 12 will host a Painting with a Twist fundraiser for the Barbara J. Myers-Ciccone Scholarship Fund from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 28. Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards, given annually to people and organizations who are working to improve the region’s environment. The Pennsylvania Environmental Council and Dominion Energy co-sponsor the awards and will present up to five cash prizes of $5,000 each to winning entries that demonstrate environmental impact and benefits. Any group, individual, program, company, or organization located and working in Western Pennsylvania may submit a nomination. Nomination deadline is Feb. 8.
