Master Gardener Program accepting applications
The Greene County Penn State Extension Master Gardener Program is accepting applications for its fall classes. Training will be held from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 4 through the end of March, with a break for the holidays, at the Greene County Penn State Extension Office in Waynesburg.
Fee is $200, which includes a Master Gardener manual. Those interested should call the Penn State Extension Office at 724-627-4537. Applications must be received by Sept. 1. Interviews will then be scheduled for the first week of September.
Penn State Extension Master Gardeners are volunteers who support Penn State Extension’s educational program in consumer horticulture. They develop their horticultural expertise through participation in educational programs conducted by Penn State University faculty and Extension staff. Gardeners work in a variety of educational settings with adults and children, help with research, write articles and answer gardening questions, among other projects.
The program is designed to provide experienced home gardeners with information and skills necessary to share science based research and knowledge with others.
