WCCF awards scholarships

Washington County Community Foundation has completed its post-secondary scholarship cycle for 2018, awarding 78 scholarships totaling $218,250. Cumulatively, the Washington County Community Foundation has awarded more than $1,125,000 in post-secondary scholarships.

WCCF also awards scholarships to pre-kindergarten students and scholarships to students in kindergarten through grade 12 attending non-public schools.

The award winners are:

Alice Boone Main Memorial Fund – Andrew Allender, McGuffey, received $500

Arthur V. Ciervo Scholarship Fund – Kenneth Miller, Burgettstown, received $500

Black Family Scholarship Fund – Awards of $1,000 each went to Bailey Machesky, West Greene; and Sarah Fox, Avella

Buckholt Science Scholarship Fund – Marissa Lopez, McGuffey, received $500

Burgettstown Jr.-Sr. High School Student Council Leadership Scholarship Fund – Madison Banaszak, Burgettstown, received $500

Burgettstown Lions Club Scholarship Fund – Three Burgettstown seniors received scholarships. Ashley Tasz received $250; Elle Havelka received $250; and Joseph DeMario received $500

CAS/Dr. Kim Stacher Scholarship Fund – Tyler Barnhart, West Greene, received $1,000

Chapman Family Scholarship Fund – 10 awards were made from this fund. They went to Michael Tyhonas, California, $2,000; Courtney Cowell, McGuffey, $2,000; Justin Butka, Trinity, $2,000; Brooke Bioni, Canon-McMillan, $2,000; Darianne Bane, Canon-McMillan, $2,000; Rachel Jones, West Greene, $4,000; Peyton Blake, West Greene, $4,000; Madison Franco, Bentworth, $4,000; Ling Xue, Chartiers-Houston, $4,000; Shelby Saut, McGuffey, $4,000

Charles Pappas Sr. Scholarship Fund – Sierra McIntyre, Burgettstown, received $1,500

CHROME FCU/Ed Orisko Scholarship – Three awards of $1,500 each went to Elek Buday, California; Tyler Whitfield, Chartiers-Houston; and Benjamin Zeisloft, Peters Township

Clyde J. Tracanna/Washington Rotary Club Educational and Vocational Fund – Awards of $1,000 each were made to Erich Durbin, McGuffey; Chelsea Geer, Trinity; and Matthew Marasco, Washington

Cynthia McCuen Scholarship Fund – Marko Olivarez, McGuffey, received $1,000

D. Jack & Geraldine L. Gaido Memorial Scholarship Fund – Jarred Rice, Trinity, received $4,000

Dave Pew Memorial Scholarship Fund – Mila Shadel, Peters Township, received $500

David O. and Sara F. Johnson Family Education Fund – Ashley Tremel, McGuffey, received $1,000

Dr. Paul Pipik Fund for Study in the Health Sciences – Dominic Clutter, Bethlehem-Center, received $850

Elizabeth Plumer Memorial Scholarship – Jessica Ashmore, Trinity, received $1,000

Friends of MarkWest Scholarship Fund II – Seven awards of $4,000 each were made from this fund. Matthias Campion, a Peters Township graduate who studies nursing at Cedarville University, received $1,250; Patrick McCracken who studies nursing at the Washington Health System School of Nursing, received $1,250; and Lauren McGavitt, a Trinity graduate who studies nursing at Waynesburg University, received $1,250
