Carmichaels High School and Middle School teams recently competed against other area schools for the Inventionland Top Inventor prize.

Throughout the school year, students in Brittany Phillips’ classes have been coming up with inventions or tweaking existing inventions as part of the Inventionland curriculum. After researching, marketing, packaging, sketching, etc., the students pitched their inventions to a group of judges, much like the show “Shark Tank.” After each nine-weeks, a winning group is selected to represent the school at the regional level.

Representing Carmichaels High School May 4 were Jacob Hair, Joey Kurincak, Finn Dobosh and Nick Swaney, with their invention, “The Magi-Pick.” The “Magi-Pick” is a guitar pick that can be wrapped around your finger, so you don’t drop it or lose it in the guitar while playing. The team won the silver medal.

Representing Carmichaels Middle School May 11 were Jesse Jones, Beau Batis, Nick Sholtis and Michael Stewart, with their invention, “The Glu-O-Duo.” The “Glu-O-Duo” is a double-sided glue stick with a liquid compartment, and a stick of glue that can be pulled out from the bottom. The team won the gold and took home the prize of Top Inventor, making it a back-to-back win for the middle school.
