Trinity Area School District held commencement exercises Friday in the high school for 260 graduating seniors.

Valedictorians were Kenneth Briggs, Makenzie Diedrich, Zachary Dinch, Jeffrey Ecker and Zachary Ecker. The salutatorian was Carly Croft and the honor graduate was Daniel Dillon.

Briggs, of South Strabane Township, is a son of Janice Briggs and Kenneth Briggs of Houston. He was an AP Scholar with Honors and won the U.S. Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award. Briggs was a member of National Honor Society, Math League, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, STEM team and president of Hiller Mini-Thon. He plans to attend Penn State University, University Park, and major in economics and finance.

Diedrich is a daughter of Jeff and Camille Diedrich of Washington. She was an AP Scholar With Honor, won the Timothy Award, PEO Star Scholarship, State Speech Tournament, DAR Award, National School Choral Award, Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship, Peer Jury Distinguished Service Award, Kirk Moniger Award, Math League Award, and American Association of Drilling Engineers Scholarship. She was a member of Math League, Spanish Club, Future Teachers of America Club, SADD, National Honor Society, Tri-Musical Honors Society, Peer Jury, Hiller Mini-Thon, National Society of High School Scholars and Student Council. Diedrich plans to attend Cedarville University and study to become a physician assistant.

Dinch, a son of Erin and Russell Dinch of North Franklin Township, was an AP Scholar with Distinction and CFA Leader Academy Scholar, won the Oracle Academy Award, Mathematics Award, Student Spotlight from Oracle Academy, Friends of MarkWest Scholarship, William & Joanne Moore Scholarship and Dr. Douglas Maciola Scholarship, and earned the NRA qualifications of Pro Marksman, Sharpshooter and First Class. He was a member of Varsity Academic League, Math League, Governor’s Team for the STEM Club, National Honor Society, SADD, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy and Spanish Club. Dinch plans to attend Princeton University and major in computer science.

Jeffrey Ecker, of South Strabane Township, is a son of Roger and Diane Ecker. He won the Mock Trial Outstanding Advocate Award, is a three-time National and State Debate Qualifier and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. He was student body president, National Honor Society and Hiller Mini-Thon vice president, Mock Trial and Speech and Debate team co-captain, and a member of Leadership Committee, Academic League, Math League and Keystone Boys State. He plans to attend Penn State University’s Schreyer Honors College and major in economics, pre-law studies.

Zachary Ecker is a son of Roger and Diane Ecker of South Strabane Township. He was a National Speech Quarterfinalist, State Speech Tournament Quarterfinalist, DAR recipient and AP Scholar with Distinction. Ecker was Hiller Mini-Thon vice president, National Honor Society president, Student Council secretary, Mock Trial Team and Speech and Debate Team captain and member of Keystone Boys State. He plans to attend Allegheny College.

Croft, of North Franklin Township, is a daughter of Dennis and Karen Croft. She was an AP Scholar with Distinction and won the DAR Good Citizen Award. Croft was a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Honor Society and German National Honor Society. She plans to attend Allegheny College and major in environmental studies.

Dillon is a son of David Dillon of Washington. He plans to attend West Virginia University and major in biology.
